Covid-19 Announcement

Update 10 June 2020

All offices are reopen and fieldworkers are again mobile to visit clients in a place where they are most comfortable.

Both the Dunedin and Alexandra Activity Centres are reopen.

Supervised Contact sessions can be undertaken again in Invercargill and Central Otago.  The Coordinator will be in touch with new schedules for those affected.

 

 

Update 02/06/2020

Able Invercargill office is now open again.  Appointments to see Fieldworkers at the office need to be made by phone prior to turning up as there is limited space which must be booked.

Able Alexandra Activity Centre is scheduled to restart Monday 8 June.

 

Update 19 MAY 2020

 

Able Dunedin office is reopen with reduced hours.  The office will be open from 9am - 3.30pm. 

The Activity Centre in Calder Street is open daily from 9am - 3pm.  

Fieldworkers are still working predominately from home, but there is limited space for some office visits.  

We are adhering to all MoH regulations involving extra cleaning of surfaces, good personal hygiene and physical distancing along with collecting contact tracing information of all people that enter our site.

 

Able Invercargill are all still working from home - so all fieldworkers are still available via phone, video calling or email. 

INV Supervised Contact is not holding sessions again yet - we will let you know as soon as this changes, because we understand how important this family time is.

 

Able Alexandra is also working from home, but this is being reassessed soon - all fieldworkers are still available via phone, video calling or email. 

 

Able Oamaru our fieldworking is available via phone, video call or email.

Update 23/3/20

In response to the Government announcement of Level 3 the Able offices and activity centres are now closed and all staff will continue their work from home. 

Supervised contact is now also shut down for a period of time.

We will continue to keep you updated as and when the situation changes.

With the challenges facing both Able and the wider community as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic continues to evolve, we want to assure you that we are following the Government’s guidelines and working hard to minimise risk for all staff, clients, family/whānau and visitors while continuing to operate with as little disruption as possible. 

We have advised staff who are feeling unwell to stay at home, or self-isolate for 14 days if they’ve returned from overseas or been in contact with someone with Covid-19 symptoms.

Our offices remain open at this point and members of the public can still contact us through these, but we do ask that you consider everyone’s health before coming into the office.  if you are feeling unwell, have travelled overseas in the past 14 days or if you have been in contact with someone who has, or is at risk of having, Covid-19, please stay away from our offices and contact us via telephone or email instead.

Family/Whānau Services

We are still open to take referrals, however, our first point of contact will now be a phone call or video conference, until further notice.  The large peer support groups have been put on hold indefinitely and the smaller ones are being reviewed regularly.

Activity Centres

Our Activity Centres in Dunedin and Alexandra are also currently still operating but this is a very fluid and fast changing situation.  Some activities on the schedule have been put on hold as we feel they present too much risk, but onsite activities are continuing with extra cleaning in place to minimise risks.

Supervised Contact – Time Out Carers

We know how important supervised contact is to you.  That’s why we are focused on minimising risk during contact sessions.  During each contact session we will restrict the number of toys and games so that we can ensure they are sanitised before and after each contact session.  We also have the authority to halt a contact session if we believe those taking part are presenting signs and symptoms of being unwell.  Please use a common-sense approach if you or a family member are not feeling well let us know.

 

As circumstances continue to develop, one thing will remain the same: We will make our decisions with the health, safety and well-being of our clients, staff and communities as our highest priority and will provide updates when further information is available or actions are required.
