Welcome to Dunedin’s Activity Centre and Foodshare Programme.
We run a number of weekly activities so keep an eye on our schedule which is updated weekly.
Dunedin Foodshare Over the past 12 months, Able Minds has assisted 1261 individuals through the distribution of 436 food parcels. Partnering with the great Kiwi initiative Kiwiharvest, Able Minds’ Foodshare Service provides hope and comfort to families in times of need by delivering nutritious food parcels to families across Dunedin. Kiwiharvest signs up food providers, collects food and delivers this to Able Minds in Dunedin, which then distribute the food to families.
Our Activity Centre members also contribute to the parcels by growing produce in Able Minds’ Garden, and by making preserves and other products from the Kiwiharvest supplies which also get added to the food parcel. This programme serves as a dual purpose by engaging our Activity Centre members in meaningful work, teaches them practical cooking and logistical skills and provides a sense of social purpose, confidence and comradery.
Requests can be made by filling out our application form. You can reapply to extend the period for an extra 2 weeks, dependent on the waiting list. For further information on this service, please contact us.
