Rangatahi & Wellbeing (RAW)

Are you - or a family member of - a young person aged 12 to 21 years who is struggling with:

✔ Disengaging or disengaged from education
✔ Lack of a pathway into training or employment
✔ Mental distress
✔ Lack of  acceptance or isolation from peers
✔ Limited family support or connection to a positive role model
If any of these are familiar to you, Able Minds encourages you to apply for the Rangatahi and Wellbeing (RAW) programme specifically designed for youth in our communities who have been affected by life challenges. We focus on life coaching, empowerment, confidence and resilience building for better wellbeing.

The RAW programme is based on the principles of Te Whare Tapa Wha model which strengthens our four walls of wellbeing: psychological health, spiritual health, physical health and family health. Together we work on strengthening these walls so that rangatahi complete the programme with the confidence to better self-manage their day-to-day lives with confidence.

A combination of counselling and one-on-one emotional support as appropriate, this programme has been designed to impart tools, tactics and strategies to move you forward and live well.

We also facilitate several peer support groups and activities so you can connect with like-minded people who are experiencing similar life challenges as:

TANK: Transgender and Non-Binary Kids
Able Minds facilitates the peer-led TANK group in Dunedin, held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6pm to 7pm. This is an opportunity for trans, gender diverse, gender queer and non-binary youth to meet others in the community and hear from guest speakers. Great snacks provided!
