Whānau Support

One-on-One Whānau Support

For those who are struggling with the impacts of having a loved one affected by mental health challenges and / or addiction, our team are here to support you. We take a holistic view to problem-solving and building resilience in your whānau by providing assistance, delivered with care and understanding.

Our staff also advocate for those navigating New Zealand’s health system, and will proactively collaborate on behalf of our clients with organisations such as Te Whatu Ora and Ministry of Social Development, ensuring our clients are well resourced in the care of their loved one.

For more information on one-on-one support, please contact [email protected] or please complete the referral form and we’ll get back to you:

Group Whānau Support

Able Minds also facilitates whānau peer support groups to promote connection and create support networks between families who are undergoing challenges in supporting a loved one with mental illness or addiction.

Able Minds facilitates groups throughout Otago, Southland, Central Otago and Waitaki. These shared spaces give families and whānau the opportunity to make friends, share information and resources, share stories and most importantly be with others who are sharing a similar journey.

We have a variety of peer support groups and activities across Otago and Southland:
  • Dunedin Support Groups
  • Oamaru Support Groups
  • Invercargill Peer Support
  • Alexandra Activities Centre
